As one of the top longboarders in the world, Karina Rozunko has had a lot of opportunities to experiment with great shapers, but she seems to return to her High Heel year after year, and it’s been rewarding to witness the surfing she’s done on it over the years. We’re all huge fans of Karina’s surfing here at the factory.
Like a lot of my designs, the High Heel draws inspiration from the New Faithful and the Australian involvement period, but this one has Karina’s personal touch and flavour. Everything about the High Heel is balanced and works together harmoniously.
Probably the best way to describe it is subtle. It touches on all of the classic involvement design features, but does it all in a measured way. It has a nice flowing rocker, a small amount of nose concave, slightly pinched rails and enough roll to get it moving side to side without being a rollercoaster. I think it complements Karina’s light footed approach to surfing, but I’ve ridden my share of High Heels too, and I’ve loved them. Needles to say, I ain’t light footed.
