Wizl

The Wizl is for the surfer who loves traditional logs and noseriding, but wants a bit more response off the tail - a little more squirt, you might say. It’s an accessible log and one of the more unique additions to the Thomas Surfboards lineup - it sits in the grey space somewhere between the Moose Knuckle and the 2+1 All Rounder.

I made some subtle adjustments to our typical rocker, and chose to use a slightly pulled in diamond tail, with a hint of tucked edge in the last 4-5 inches, which makes for a super lively feel off your back foot. It doesn’t go as hard on rail as a 2+1, but you can definitely carve this thing. More than that though, I like how responsive it is, particularly when I’m surfing the beachies, where it’s a bit more back and forth then down the line. We’re used to going down the line a lot here on the Noosa points, but for the most part we surf the Groyne or the open beaches, and in those cases the Wizl’s ability to redirect and reposition in the pocket makes it a real winner in my eyes. I’m chuffed too with how well it works on the nose, the medium blended concave into a flat bottom means you’re able to use the rocker to push through noserides, and you get this cool lift even in sloppy sections. It’s a go-to in any and all conditions from onshore junk to perfect points.
